Naomi Ellen Watts (born 28 September 1968) is the British actress from the UK. She made her film debut in Australia in For Love Alone (1986) which was followed by three television series: Hey Dad.. (1990), Brides of Christ (911) and Home and Away (1991) and Flirting (1991). Watts was a flop as an actor when she first came to the United States. She acted in films with a small budget and then became an actress. She rose to international fame with this character. Watts played the part of the journalist who is depressed in The Ring, a horror film that was remade. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as a grief-stricken mother in the Alejandro film 21 Grams (2003). Watts' star power has grown when she appeared in I Heart Huckabees (2004). King Kong (2006), Eastern Promises ((2007)) and The International (2009). Watts received nominations for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her part in The Impossible (2012) as Maria Bennett. In the 2010s she appeared in films as Birdman (2014) St. Vincent (2014), While We're Young (2015), The Glass Castle (2017) as well as Luce (2019). Watts also continued to act in blockbusters, and made appearances in the Divergent franchise (2015-2016).
